Hello there!

I’m Jen Busch. Don’t be fooled by the surname, I’m British, but after studying English literature and learning French I did marry a German physicist… In 2014, he convinced me to move to Bavaria, and we now live in Garching bei München with our two little boys.

Workwise, I’ve done everything from pruning vines to managing rail emergencies, but the last decade has been all about languages. I copy-edited in-house at McKinsey & Company, where the work often strayed into editing or rewriting, and studied an MA in Translation from the University of Bristol that made me itch to start translating professionally.

In 2023, I took the leap into freelance life. Alongside varied, interesting projects, I’ve gained the Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom and am really enjoying developing my specialist areas and a portfolio of literary translation samples!

I hired Jennifer to translate my website, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. From the start, she took the time to understand my brand, my audience, and the tone I wanted to convey. She asked the right questions, showed great attention to detail, and delivered a translation that is not only accurate, but also fluid, engaging, and perfectly tailored to my target market. Working with Jennifer was smooth and professional from beginning to end. I highly recommend her for any marketing translation project. She truly adds value beyond words.

— Camille Sudre, Freelance Translator

In her role, Ms. Busch availed herself of her outstanding linguistic ability. She understood exactly how to improve the style and overall impact of the texts she worked on, thereby upgrading them to first-class communications. Documents she copy edited always met our rigorous standards for correctness, consistency, and accuracy. Furthermore, she understood the wider context and reliably uncovered any discrepancies within the content. Her impressive powers of comprehension, attention to detail, linguistic finesse, and sense of quality all served her well during her time at McKinsey.

I love CPD! I’m always on the lookout to develop my skills or learn something new. Last year, for example, I racked up over 150 hours in my ITI log. German classes, editing courses, wine tastings, translation discussion groups, book fairs and literature festivals, it’s all in there. And on the side, I’ve been entering flash fiction competitions to improve my creative writing and even had a couple of micro and flash fiction pieces published.

That’s the great thing about choosing your specialisms – keeping yourself sharp is all part of the fun!
